Saturday is a special day...
Saturday Jake and his dad spent all day remodeling our downstairs bathroom (which is almost finished!). They've spent the last several weeks cutting, gluing, hammering, measuring, tiling, grouting, painting... My contribution was finding and putting together a cabinet. When it's finished, I'll post pics of the process. We had hornets' nests all over our backyard that Jake and Nyla tackled. Again, I had the hard job of sitting across the lawn and feeding Grant grapes from our fence (he had no less than 50, and we were paying for it all day on Sunday). Since it is the day we get ready for Sunday, I bathed Grant, put him to bed, and read the Joseph Smith lessons (if the teacher doesn't show, I'm in charge of filling in).
Welcome, welcome, Sabbath morning...
Grant decided to wake up at 5, 6, and 7am Sunday morning, but Jake took the last one so I could sleep longer. That's our deal. He sleeps in on Saturday, I sleep in on Sunday. I'll sort of miss 1:00 church next year.... I attended ward welfare meeting at 10:00, practiced a last-minute sacrament meeting musical number with Crystal at 11:30, ate crockpot bbq ribs with Crystal and Scott, sang in church, conducted in Relief Society, played with Grant and with mixed feelings watched him crawl several steps, took a family walk, chewed on honeycomb fresh from a neighbor's hive (with permission, of course), met with the bishop for some welfare business and ended up with our Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication tickets.
It's just another manic Monday...
Grant decided to take a nap almost immediately after eating this morning, so I took advantage of the time and worked out. It isn't usually my first choice (I'd rather sleep), but I always feel so much better the rest of the day when I get my body moving. I felt pretty energized after that, so I cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes, picked up the living room, read some of my camera's manual, fed Grant applesauce and helped him eat graham crackers (surprisingly, he fed himself most of the pieces), ate lunch, put Grant on the floor with his favorite metal bowl and wooden spoons, turned on my favorite show, "What Not to Wear," and started this blog.
We do exciting things every so often, but most of life revolves around the little things. Sometimes it seems tedious and a little bland, but these are the events that shape most of the minutes and hours of my day. And now I'm off to tuck my little guy in for his nap. Does this mean I might even get to take a shower today?! Oh, the joys of the little things in life!

Sounds like you had a pretty eventful weekend! And I couldn't agree with you more. Life really does revolve around the little things. The sooner we realize that the better off we are... and the happier we are! :D
Ooo, I want to come watch What Not to Wear!
That sounds like my life...a bunch of little things. I hope they're shaping me into the right person! Thanks for the fun post and the reminder.
I love these kinds of post because that is exactly what life is all about... the little things we do each day. I get to do better at blogging about the little things in my life so that I don't forget them. Thanks for the reminder and the fun look into your daily life.
I'm liking your little sleep-in deal. I read it out loud to Clayton hoping he would catch on to it...Hmm..Still waiting...Hahaha! You are very industrious! I am impressed! Way to go little mama!
Yeah for Grant! I love the ticker you have at the top of your blog, way cute. It is always a good idea to find the meaningful everyday things that we do, as moms, it is sometimes hard but needed!
I love this post!!! You have a crazy busy life but it sounds great! Cannot wait to see pics of the remodel. I never imagined how much my whole world would revolve around one little tiny person, but it does and I love it. By the way I feel the same way when I work out to, it gives you such a charge. I don't do it very often though, I'm lazy and opt to sleep more : )! Thanks for the motivation!
