Quicken Online

Here's my new favorite website, Quicken Online. I've been doing my budgeting in Excel for years, but it is so time-consuming to add all the functions and all. Plus, I don't know how to create charts. So I looked into Quicken and found that they have a free website.

I added our bank and credit card accounts, and every day it updates itself. You can change the categories it assigns everything (though I found most of them to be correct), set "goals" (the budget part of it--it shows you how much you've spent in that category and how much you have left for the month), and see at-a-glance charts and graphs about your spending habits for one to twelve months. It's so awesome! Simple, effective, and very practical, since I do all my bill paying online anyway. You can even have emails and texts sent to you when you are nearing the end of a category's goal for the month.

Check it out!!!

I'm going to check that out! We bought a version of it last year and have it on the computer but it requires manual updating so I have to enter every receipt in. Not my favorite thing. Automatic updates would be dreamy.

You should try our free online envelope budgeting program that my husband and I created!! It is www.mitebudget.com and it's awesome! Quicken only tells you what you've done with your money, past-tense. MiteBudget shows you where you plan to use the money currently in your account!! I used to forget to pay a tithing check and would have to go through and find all paychecks until I figured up the total. Now, we allot our tithing into an envelope so that it's automatically allocated each paycheck. When I realize I haven't written a check in a while, I login, see that my tithing envelope says $xxxx and my fast offering envelope says $xxx and then write out my checks appropriately!! It's easier to save, easier to stick to an actual budget (as opposed to "just spending less") and is an amazing program! You should try it out and let me know what you think!!!
