Today we got to hear from the full-time missionaries in Sacrament Meeting, which is always exciting and inspiring. As we stood to sing the rest hymn, Called to Serve, Grant clapped and lead the music and yelled his own version--he, too, was caught up in the excitement of it all! As soon as it was over, Grant stopped and sat down as if he knew that was what we were supposed to do.
The ward mission leader spoke next and announced to the whole ward that he wished everyone could have seen "the little redheaded boy in the back" and then explained what happened during the song. He went on to say that he wished everyone in the Church would be as excited about missionary work, and that he knew this little boy would one day grow up to be an amazing missionary (also throwing in a line like, "knowing his parents" before that last part, which reminded me that we need to teach him all he needs to know!).
I truly hope we can instill a desire and excitement for obedience and missionary work in our family, and also hope that each child will choose to do the things they have been taught. I can't make their choices, but I can ensure they can never say they didn't know!
