Reveille

One year at girls' camp we had a stake leader who wandered around playing reveille at 6:00a.m. A few times he even put the trumpet right up next to a tent, and let me tell you, that is not a good way to be roused.

This morning, however, I quite enjoyed my early morning wake-up call. As usual, I heard Grant puttering around in his crib (he likes it for about fifteen minutes before getting bored). He loves the shock and surprise of being mildly scared so I often sneak in and make him figure out where I am after poking him or calling his name. This morning I crawled in and wiggled my fingers between the bars and under the bumper, which immediately caught his attention--he saw my peeking face and immediately stood up in front of me. I poked my head over the crib and he broke into an ecstatic grin, grabbed my cheeks with his chubby hands, and brought my chin in for a big, wet kiss.

All sleepiness fled from me. What a great way to wake up!
