In October, I applied to teach at Especially For Youth. Last week I got an email that said I wasn't accepted because I didn't submit a video of me teaching, but they had told me I didn't need to submit a video since I'd so recently taught with the Church Educational System. They were supposed to just contact the principle and area director that were in charge of me. So I emailed them back, but then heard nothing. Still heard nothing. Still heard nothing. After discussing this with Jake, Crystal, and Kori, I bit the bullet and called them. Now, I hate the phone because I can't think of anything to say when I'm on it; when I finally do say something, it comes out sounding weird, and then I feel stupid. Plus, I didn't want to be too pushy. But I did it anyway. They told me they would look into it for me.
Yesterday I got an email from them informing me that I was accepted to teach! Hooray! I've never been to EFY before, but I always wanted to. I attended Best of EFY in Pocatello during my teenage years and loved that, but teaching at EFY is very different than speaking at EFY. I observed a class last summer, and it was basically just like a seminary class with a hundred students instead of thirty. Participation from students is required for teachers. I'll only teach a few times over the course of the summer, which is nice since we seem to have a lot of reunions and such during those months.
Although I love teaching my institute class, I miss teenagers and seminary. I'm so excited! Now I'm filling out all kinds of paperwork and preparing my four lessons that have to be turned in to a correlation committee by March. Whew! If anyone has any unique ideas that don't involve dating or the temple, I'm up for suggestions...

Unique ideas involving dating? Are you kidding me? I have a hard enough time figuring out what to do on my own dates. I highly doubt any of your future students will want to hear any ideas from me.
But congrats!
Chels, I went to EFY 3 times. I loved it. It was an amazing experience every time and it seriously helped me out as a teenager. I'm so excited that you're going to teach there! As for ides, I would focus on teenage-ish thiings like maybe the importance of good friends, self-esteem/self-worth, staying strong in the church, or something. I don't know, i'm no good at ideas. But basically i'm excited that you have this opportunity! Congratulations and good luck!
p.s. Me, my mom, and Quinn all want to learn how to knit so you should teach us sometime. K sanks.
Wow! That is neat! I love that you keep up on this even though you are busy being Mommy. Good luck! You are amazing!
