Email to Elder Logan Hayden

This week Grant learned what eyes are and says the word quite well (though it sounds more like oyes, which I think he gets from  owies). He's currently tearing apart the house that I just finished cleaning (but what's new?). He actually cooperated at Church yesterday and I didn't have to sit in the hall for two hours with a screaming child. Yay! He's also sleeping in until 8am these days. Ahh, the simple joys. Oh, and he suddenly stopped emptying out the toy basket so he could race to to the window to watch the train. Now it's gone and he's signing more. Hmmm. Not much I can do for him on that one...

Jake's school is plodding on. It's less than a month in and it already feels like the semester has lasted forever. Now Grant is eating the tiny edge of notebook paper that comes out with the page. I found out this week that I get to teach a couple of classes at EFY this summer. I'll teach four different topics, but only once or twice each. I'm really excited to be able to teach teenagers again! We had the Oguz family over for dinner on Saturday evening, and they brought a carrot cake that had 550 calories per slice. Sheesh! That's half of my entire day's allotment! Someone snuck Grant some, and I think he ate half a slice all by himself. When he screamed for more I had to be the bad guy and pull him away from the food. Oh, now he's snacking on some crackers he must have found on the floor somewhere. I'd better go discover where he's finding these...

Have a great week! Oh, no, now he's tickling my feet and laughing gleefully. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

(five minutes later) Oh, I found the cracker source. Apparently he's a squirrel, and when I've given him crackers in the past he's put a few in the cupboard on the back of the counter. Very resourceful. I wonder where else I'll find food that he's stored away... Last week I heard my cell phone ringing and discovered it at the bottom of the big garbage can in the kitchen. Now I have to put it on top of the counter at all times, which is quite an eyesore. The remote I can live without, but my phone? That would make things a little more difficult.
