Grant's new obsession

Why has my son moved away from coloring everything in the house (walls, couches, blinds, toys, floors, doors, molding) to coloring his legs? Not his arms or hands, but always his legs. And he's always so proud of his artwork. And I always crush his little world of happiness.

In a way I'm very happy that when I find him with a permanent marker (and I still don't know where he finds these things) there isn't marker all over my bedspread. But legs? What's the draw?

Jake thinks it's because (thanks to me) Grant has two beautiful, pasty-white artistic canvases just begging to be decorated.

Being so white is a curse to me, but to Grant it has opened up the inner painter, I guess. Sigh. I try not to scrub his legs too often, because if I did it every time he found a marker, highlighter, or pen, he'd have skinless canvases.

Maybe this will all solve itself when fall comes around and he starts wearing long pants again.

I'm surprised that you never took a pen to your own white canvases. We'd better hope that this interest in ink on his skin doesn't lead to a propensity to tatoos. . . :)

Oh Addi does that ALL THE TIME! I seriously don't know what it is about legs that are so appealing? Maybe because they're just right there withing reaching length? So funny...
