Sometimes things don't go according to plan. That is the first news. We've been planning for years that Jake will graduate with his MA from BYU in December, but this week he was offered a great internship with BYU Magazine that will be from August to April.I admit, at first it was disappointing to think that we'll have an extra semester of tuition, homework, and not having a "real" job; but it turned out to be a really great thing.
As Jake was talking with his adviser this morning before deciding to take the offer, he stumbled across an error that had been made in his academic plan and discovered that he has an extra class he has to take before graduating. If it weren't for all of this, he would have worked his tail off to finish in December only to find out that he needed an extra semester anyway!
He also learned that he doesn't need to take any more language classes, which means that this summer will be the first we've had since we've been married that he won't have summer school. HOORAY!!! That alone was enough to help me feel like we could make it one more semester--just a little break for all of us for a few months.
I'm so proud of him! He works hard and is very good at what he does. I know it sounds biased, but it's also true. :) The time he spent interning at the Liahona magazine was what made him decide that he wants to be in magazine publishing, and this opportunity with the BYU Magazine will just be one step closer to realizing that dream.
The second announcement is that sometimes things go exactly according to plan. We are expecting again after a year of struggling and miscarrying and all the fun that comes along with those things. We're due in early September. I'm excited deep down but am still waiting for the nausea to ease up enough for me to feel really excited. You moms know what I mean. But I'm almost 14 weeks along now, so I hope relief will come soon. :)
So our world is changing in some very good ways.
Oh, and it's finally starting to feel like spring! There are few feelings that compare to the joy and relief of springtime!!
