Attitude

My son has started acting like a thirteen-year-old girl. Not always (in fact, usually just when we're eating).

Every day, this happens. If I say, "Grant, you need to eat more peas." He replies with his eyes rolled toward the ceiling, "I already did!"  If I say he needs to eat more food, he says, "But I'm so so so so so sick." So is his new favorite word, and he uses it often for dramatic effect. Wonder where he got that trait from. :)

Fortunately, the next one only happened once. I asked him at lunch, "Grant, do you want some more sandwich?" He got that same exaggerated and exasperated sound in his voice as usual, but this time he said, "I'm obviously done!" What the heck? How does he even know that word?!

The other day we went to the dollar store and he picked out a Cars sticker/stamp set and was super excited to use it. He kept saying, "I want my stamps!" So when we opened the box, he grabbed the first stamp he saw, put it on the floor, and smashed it as hard as he could with his foot. Everyone was astonished--what had brought that wretched display on? It took a few minutes for me to put it all together. He thought he was supposed to stamp (or stomp) on it. He was so horrified when all of us yelled for him to stop, and he ran out of the room feeling sad. Poor guy! He was just doing what he thought he was supposed to!

Last night he went with Jake and Grandma "Lyla" to the BYU basketball game, and when I went to pick him up after teaching my class, he was super excited about the Y stamp he got on his hand. (Oh, and all the way home he belted out the "Ohhhhh...Go Cougars!" song, which sounded so cute!) This morning, as he lovingly stroked the Y stamp on his hand, he said, "Look at my stamp! Grant and Gramma got a stamp! Mommy, you can get a stamp when you're old like me." :)

Well, he's sad because his sticker isn't "so so so sticky, Mom!" Guess I'd better calm the drama.

I love it when they come up with a word out of nowhere. It shows that they really are always listening. I love when Moms record these cute funny moments.

hahaha it's funny for us to see the attitude because we don't have to deal with it :)
