Photo Journaling (a.k.a. Digital Scrapbooking)

Jake gave me the most fabulous Christmas present last year: a digital scrapbooking program. I've tried my hand at regular scrapbooking in the past and was never very successful for a number of reasons. First of all, I wasn't creative enough. Second, I wasn't artistic enough to get the few creative thoughts to turn out right on the paper. Third, it was a HUGE mess. Fourth, it was quite time-consuming. Last, I couldn't afford it. So I stopped trying. The idea of it was so much better than the outcome most of the time.

Digital scrapbooking has changed my whole world! Okay, that might be a bit extreme, but in a way it is true! I can spend as little or as much time as I want, there is no mess to clean up, I can resize my pictures, the undo feature is priceless... I could go on all day. I used the program to create Grant's birth announcement (posted earlier this month). I feel like I am finally able to keep up on our memories.

Here's a sampling, and there are more to come!

That is great! I claim to be a scrap booker, but truth be told I rarely do it. It is such a mess and my kids want to get into EVERYTHING. It is a very frustrating hobby. So, where does one get this software?? Is it pricy?

I'm impressed. I'm too messy of a scrapbooker too. Plus I'd rather spend money on shoes or ice cream. :) Grant's blessing picture is really cute, he looks like he knew he was posing for a picture, very perfect and serene. When I read about his blessing where you mentioned "Grandpa Hayden" for just a second I thought, "Wait a minute. . ." then realized who you were talking about. :)

Like "The Perkins Family" asked, where did he find that software, and was it pricy?! I do "real" scrapbooking, and it is very messy. I rarely get to do it because it takes so much time for one page, and then Keith is likely to get into it. In fact, I don't think I have anything done since his second birthday... in Feb 2008. EEK!

Anyway, the pages are SUPER cute! I'm fairly creative, but I can't ever get pages to look THAT good!

For those of you who are interested in the software, it is called "Scrapbook Factory Deluxe" and it is normally priced at around $35--he got it for cheaper online around Christmas. The owner's manual is like an inch thick, but it is the easiest program to use if you know anything about computers--they went into details like how to copy and paste, or how to move text boxes up and down... Good luck!
