It's been coming on for a week now, but yesterday was Grant's official first at pulling himself into a standing position. Down went the crib last night--no more high infant position for my little giant. It's like a snowball effect these days, rolling down a hill. He's picking up size and speed (literally and figuratively). Every day he's like a different baby!
One of my favorite new activities involves one of my less favorite toys (I'm starting to understand why my parents weren't fond of the noise-makers we always seemed to asked for for Christmas). Grant pushes buttons on this gadget, and each one makes a different animal noise. Often, he'll push the top button (the one that whistles a song) for twenty or thirty minutes on end. No joke. But the great part is that this week he has realized that he wants to make noise when the animals make noise--a few times he's even made a pretty good roar sound!
Grant is one of the most observant little guys I've ever seen, and stubbornly determined (surprise, surprise). Oh, and I can't forget CRAZY busy! He's into things (and wants to be into things) a lot more than all the girl babies in our ward and even our families. In the last few days he has discovered the toilet as well as his dad's oil painting (we're still trying to rewire our brains to shut doors every time we go in and out of a room). I guess it's how boys learn. Girls are word-oriented, boys are action-oriented. It has been a challenging transition but it's also a lot of fun!
Happy eighth month birthday tomorrow, Grant!

That is so cute. Once they figure out that they can do something there is no holding them back. I totally understand the meaning of active little boys. Grant is getting so big and is so cute.
